This BEGINNERS/STARTER PAINTING COURSE is all about what professional materials, paints and brushes to use. How to prepare your canvas. Painting techniques, how the paint works, control of your brushes, the marks they make. What different techniques are needed for different effects. Simple Composition, focal points, tonal values etc EVERYTHING YOU NEED to start painting. Painting is not just about paint on canvas or paper - it's about concepts, ideas, colours, atmosphere, subjects etc but this first course is ESSENTIAL to start painting. Once you have learnt all the basics THEN you can move on to Stage 2 and start developing your ideas. Stage 3 will take you further and re-confirm all you need to be an individual painter.
COURSE PROGRAMME
SATURDAY
Arrive 9.45-10.0am Refreshments in the upstairs lounge. Meet your fellow artists.
Introduction to JoeDaisy Studio and your Professional Artist.
10.00am Paints, brushes and equipment. KNOW YOUR EQUIPMENT. A complete
overview, explanation and
comparison of products. Every artist has their own space with professional easel, painting table and hi stool. ALL YOUR PROFESSIONAL MATERIALS ARE INCLUDED.
10.30am How to create an 'Interpretive Landscape' in acrylics on canvas. Professionally prepare your canvas for painting. Your tutor paints with you - showing you composition, perspective, create a focal point, balance your colour and learn how to use your brush with different brush strokes.
12.30am Buffet Lunch in the Upstairs Lounge We cater for vegetarians and any special dietary requirements. During the day, there is a coffee machine, tea, herbal drinks, soft drinks, bottled water and wine available - along with nibbles and you are encouraged to make the Studio 'your home' for the weekend i.e take rests whenever you want to, walk around, look at the art books, look at the paintings and prints in the Gallery, sit and chat etc. We want you to feel as if you are at home but with the added bonus of every top quality Professional art material and facility you could desire!
1.30pm Carry on painting your landscape.
4.30pm Day Ends
SUNDAY
Arrive 9.30am Refreshments in the upstairs gallery.
10.00am Creating a Still Life. We create a 'still life' painting on canvas . Still Life is not boring(!) We show you how a) You can learn from Still life and b) create a stunning, interesting and different painting.
12.30pm Buffet Lunch in the Upstairs Lounge
1.30pm CARRY ON PAINTING YOUR STILL LIFE & concentrate on areas; composition, use of brush, use of colour, focal points etc - that you personally feel need development.
3.00 ASSESSMENT AND CHAT.
3.30pm. Collection of your paintings and course notes, Day Ends.
EXTENDED WEEKEND - MONDAY
9.30am Arrive, Carry on painting your picture from yesterday or start another. We supply you with another canvas - so if you don't use it - take it home! Another day is actually just what the doctor ordered! You are feeling totally at home in your space and the Studio feels as if you have been here for weeks!
We also have some time to explain 'colour' on this day. Mixing paint and creating mixed colour on the canvas.
12.30pm Lunch
3.30pm Day ends.
This weekend course is a BEGINNERS STARTER weekend with your tutor painting with you. Most students come back for more specific
teaching but this is a great course to start with AND an exclusive opportunity to use top quality professional materials with tuition from an exceptionally talented and capable professional artist. WHO DOES NOT IMPOSE HER WILL ON YOU!! BUT ENCOURAGES THE ARTIST IN YOU!
