THIS IS A 3 DAY COURSE ONLY

A new course that gives you the basic professional start to creating portraits.

We first of all understand the face and the structure of bones and muscles and create pastel drawings. Plus a quick acrylic painting - understanding the transition from pastels to paint.

2nd Day. We paint two portraits. Undertaking colour mixing flesh tones.

On the third day you start creating your chosen portrait in acrylics.

Everyone has their own space, a professional easel, painting table, painting brushes, paints etc. You chose your size canvas.

SATURDAY

Arrive 9.45am-10.0am Refreshments in the upstairs gallery. Meet your fellow artists. Introduction to JoeDaisy Studio and your Professional Artist.

10.00am Paints, brushes and equipment. KNOW YOUR EQUIPMENT. A complete overview, explanation and comparison of products. Every artist has their own space with professional easel, painting table and hi stool. Some special tips on how to prepare your canvas for painting. Use of pigments & mediums. Which sort of brush for each medium etc.There is a complete selection of brushes, palette knives, paints, pastels, canvases, pigments, mediums, etc in the studio.

10.30am Learning the Structure of the face . We understand the bones and muscles of the face and create a series of pastel drawings. We also understand the proportion of the face.

12.30am Buffet Lunch in the Upstairs Gallery We cater for vegetarians and any special dietary requirements. During the day, there is a coffee machine, tea, herbal drinks, soft drinks, bottled water and wine available - along with nibbles and you are encouraged to make the Studio 'your home' for the weekend i.e take rests whenever you want to, walk around, look at the art books, look at the paintings and prints in the Gallery, sit and chat etc. We want you to feel as if you are at home but with the added bonus of every top quality Professional art material and facility you could desire!

1.30pm We work from a photograph and create another pastel drawing - this time of a 'perfect' face. Learning how to draw the features. Then we do a quick acrylic Tonal painting.

9.0am Examples of famous portraits. Styles and concepts. We start creating your chosen portrait in acrylics. You can bring your own photograph - or work with ours.
