The 'Oil Painting Weekend' is an introduction to oil painting. Everyone has their own space, with Professional easel, painting table, paints, brushes etc. ALL MATERIALS ARE PROVIDED. ALL our courses cover perfect composition, focal points, tonal values etc. All our courses are a start to professional painting.

COURSE PROGRAMME - OIL PAINTING WEEKENDS
This was created on the first 'Oil Painting' course in this Studio - Feb 2008
SATURDAY
Arrive 9.45-10.0am Refreshments in the upstairs lounge. Meet your fellow artists.
Introduction to JoeDaisy Studio and your Professional Artist.
10.30am Paints, brushes and equipment. KNOW YOUR EQUIPMENT. A complete
overview, explanation and
comparison of products. Every artist has their own space with professional easel, painting table and hi stool. ALL YOUR PROFESSIONAL MATERIALS ARE INCLUDED.
Caroline shows you how to prepare your canvas and demonstrates techniques. Caroline starts at the beginning with palettes, painting knives, painting brushes etc and shows you how to prepare your canvas for painting. You paint along with Caroline and learn how to; compose your painting, create a focal point, balance/mix colour etc.
12.30am Buffet Lunch in the Upstairs Gallery (Sometimes a barbecue in the summer) We cater for vegetarians and any special dietary requirements. During the day, there is a coffee machine, tea, herbal drinks, soft drinks, bottled water and wine available - along with nibbles and you are encouraged to make the Studio 'your home' for the weekend i.e take rests whenever you want to, walk around, look at the art books, look at the paintings and prints in the Gallery, sit and chat etc. We want you to feel as if you are at home but with the added bonus of every top quality Professional art material and facility you could desire!
1.30pm You decide what you want to paint. We know painting is all about passion and your creativity. So we don't want to teach you to 'paint by numbers' or be 'prescriptive' in any of our courses. So you decide what form interests you. Landscapes, still life, abstracts etc.
We have a selection of suitable images in the Studio for first time painters. So you chose your image from our library.
OR if you feel confident enough, Caroline will help you compose your own painting. Or bring along an image of something you want to paint/emulate.
The afternoon is spent composing your painting, drawing out and practising your techniques.
