For artists who want to develop their painting into something more abstract and contemporary. OR DEVELOP A PAINTERLY STYLE.
We work on one large hand made canvas all weekend. (along with our sample canvases where we will be exploring, glazes, mediums, texture, techniques etc).
THIS IS A TOTALLY INDULGENT WEEKEND AND Caroline is very generous and lets you explore, acrylics, oils, oil sticks and mixed media on this weekend.
We learn glazes, mediums, abstract techniques, work with oil sticks, acrylics and mixed media. Caroline shows you how to create 'abstract' or contemporary works from landscapes, colour and form.
You also paint on one of our very exclusive hand made canvases. (four times primed cotton canvas and Italian hard wood stretchers). Made by our own on-site carpenter your canvas can be up to size 40" (100cm).
You will find a HUGE difference in using our hand made canvases. The paint quality is much enhanced and the quality of the canvases are those expected by top galleries.
THIS IS A VERY SPECIAL PAINTING WEEKEND. For artists with some experience and students who want to be more expressive and exploratory - using the very best materials.

SATURDAY
Arrive 9.45-10.0am Refreshments in the upstairs lounge. Meet your fellow artists.
Introduction to JoeDaisy Studio and your Professional Artist.
10.30am We talk about where you want to be at the end of the weekend. Bring along some images or drawings/portfolio. We will discuss how you want to Professionally develop your hand made canvas. you can use mixed media, oils, acrylics etc. Each student has personal guidance. Caroline will show you how to get inspiration for more 'interpretive' or abstract/contemporary paintings. Emphasis on colour balance, composition etc.
12.30am Buffet Lunch in the Upstairs Gallery (Sometimes a barbecue in the summer) We cater for vegetarians and any special dietary requirements. During the day, there is a coffee machine, tea, herbal drinks, soft drinks, bottled water and wine available - along with nibbles and you are encouraged to make the Studio 'your home' for the weekend i.e take rests whenever you want to, walk around, look at the art books, look at the paintings and prints in the Gallery, sit and chat etc. We want you to feel as if you are at home but with the added bonus of every top quality Professional art material and facility you could desire!
2.0pm Painting, including mixed media and personal development. On location from March 2008 - drawing on location in the stunning Mapledurham area, where you learn how landscape forms can be a starting point for contemporary paintings.

3.00pm. Discusssion.
A professional digital image (300 dpi) on disc, to take away from which you can make your painting into prints.
4.00 pm Day EndsCollection of your paintings and drawings and specially written tuition manuals plus poster size Colour Wheel. Arrange for courier delivery of larger paintings.
