CLIENT COMMENTS

We have all these comments in the Studio in our 'Visitor's Book' for you all to see! (We only put on comments with the consent of the students and not all students want their paintings on the web site - which explains why we have their written words but no image) We also never ask for comments or testimonials - they just arrive anyway.

So thank you students for being such a great bunch!

Thanks for the info, Cat. And thanks for a great weekend! It was truly transformational for me and I feel as if I have found something wonderful to develop and enjoy. I just need to get the materials and then begin.

You are a fantastic teacher and I really appreciate the guidance. I have had quite a few compliments on my paintings which is a lovely feeling. Nicky

all inhibitions quite upturned.

You know so well how we all tick

Hi Cat "Just wanted to say how much I enjoyed last weekend - it surpassed all my expectations - not only was I able to immerse myself in my painting, but I achieved my aim to paint some bright and bold paintings, both of which are
up on my walls!  Your teaching and encouragement were excellent giving me the confidence to experiment and not worry about making a mistake and to aim
continue painting at home.

Thank you once again and best wishes" Caroline

"Fantastic week - learnt loads and had a laugh :) Thanks Caroline :) Chris (Abstract week - August 2013)

Dear Cat,
My thanks for an amazing intro to being free . I did enjoy myself, the company and the tutor were exemplary. What can I do next !!!!! Advanced impressionism, the next horizon? Many thanks again Jeannie (March 2013)

Thanks Caroline for a brilliant, fun and entirely inspiring week, xx Judy

Hi Cat

"I absolutely loved the course and you will see me again, probably several times. I came home inspired and enthused, thank you so much.

Hope this week is going well, wish I had been able to stay on"Tricia

Dear Caroline

'Thanks for a brilliant, chilled, insightful and inspiring time in the studio - your abstract students are in for a huge treat next week. Enjoy!" Claire

"Thanks Cat, a brilliant week of learning so much about portrait painting. Great fun.
Joe Daisy is the ONLY studio that truly 'brings out the artist in you'.
Hope you might be running some week courses next summer". Judy x"

Dear Caroline My you have been busy post the course. Thank you for the really good sample book.

We truly enjoyed ourselves. Not only was the painting week end wonderful, the teaching experience was in itself a great treat. You were a joy to be with. Thank you once again. May see you in Spain! Regards Douglas and Pauline

Hi Kat

It was an amazing experience and I would never have believed you could get me to paint a portrait in just a couple of days!
The painting of Paddy got an 8/10 ! Apparently I got his hair and smile right but I made him look 3 years older than he really is!
No pleasing some people eh.
Thanks again and heat company...
Cheers Richard

"Caroline

I read the web site and though yeah right no-body could be this good!!

BUT I was wrong - you were 'this' good and better!!

Apologies for even doubting you(!) ha! - just a day but what a day.

Great teaching, wonderful hospitality and I LOVE your approach, gentle, confident and inspiring confidence in me.

I'm hooked, see you next week and with your teaching I'll be an artist in oh say - 4 weeks?!!! Tom P.S. dont put the painting on the web site - wait for abit!! "

Cat. Just wanted to thank you for a fantastic couple of days last week. Your new portrait course was absolutely wonderful, very inspiring, challenging and loads of fun. I thought your teaching was amazing, taking us out of our comfort zone and yet with loads of encouragement. Sara

Hi Caroline,

Goodness, what a magical three days;  I feel both exhilarated and content, which I didn't know was possible at the same time!  The warmth and hospitality shown by yourself and Robin, made the studio homely and everyone feel welcome.  Caroline, your enthusiasm, sense of fun and passion for painting, is uplifting and infectious and it all combined to make a unique and special atmosphere.   My friend Linda and I loved it and came away bursting with knowledge!

I especially valued your friendly, yet honest opinion of my work, as I'm keen to keep growing and learning.   I've come away with the courage to make the changes necessary to see how far I can succeed.   Thank you Caroline. Kind regards, Linda McCarthy

Thanks Cat,
I'd just like to say again how much fun you made the course and such a brilliant teacher, I still can't believe how much I acheived in such a short space of time. It is my day off tomorrow so I will be continuing with my portrait!! I am definately going to try and come on another course.

Hope you have fun and some good weather in France. All the best Caryn

"The Tutor was Caroline Hulse, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. She was an excellent Tutor and must be the most highly qualified I have encountered. I learned many new 'things" - well worth the time and effort".

Hi Cat "Thank you for an excellent weekend.  I have moved from zero to somewhere, as I was noticing all the colours and textures on the way home and working out what colours would be used, picking out the light and shade!

Your enthusiasm and patience is inspirational and I will no doubt be asking more questions as I play around! " Thelma - Jan 2013

"Caroline was such an excellent  teacher - so generous in passing on tips and techniques.

She also seemed to be able to draw (sorry about the pun)out the best in us. I can truthfully say the three pictures I produced were the best I have ever done - they were recognisable to the subject matter !!!!! ". Pam

Hello Cat

I wanted to thank you, once again, for displaying an enormous amount of patience, wit and wisdom with me in my struggle with painting.

As I said last time, you have special gifts as a teacher, and I have benefited from them hugely. Thank you again.

I will be back for more! Love Peter

(A great piece of work)
says Caroline

Hi Caroline,

Just to say a BIG thank you for a fabulous weekend. I agree totally that it was a great group, interesting and able to mix well and support each other. I felt very emboldened by my efforts and have just hung no 1 bark on the hall wall, colours go well and it looks great -even better that we can turn it sideways when we want to change! I'll be back again sometime... Many many thanks Elaine

Hi Cat

Thanks for another great weekend at JoeDaisy! Thoroughly enjoyed it all and it was great to be part of the Inaugural Impressionistics..... I will be back for more :-)

Regards and thanks again for your inspiration, enthusiam and expert guidance.

Kate (March 2013)

Caroline. The weekend was such a wonderful experience for me. I had been trying not to think about what we’d do beforehand so that I wouldn’t be anxious about what I was letting myself in for having never even picked up a paint brush before. However, I needn’t have worried, I felt at ease and at home immediately in your lovely studio. It’s not often I get any “me” time what with work, 2 very lively 9 year olds and a husband who is often abroad so to have two whole days to myself was just blissful and this was the perfect way to indulge myself. I’d love to come back again.

My family were even very complimentary about my paintings. My daughter has chosen the bluebell for her bedroom and I’ve earmarked a great spot for the still life. Alison

Hi Cat,
Wow, what a fantastic course on colour. There was so much information, loads of inspiration and most importantly lots of fun. We had such a lovely group of enthusiastic artists and I really really enjoyed it.
I have just come back from Devon, which was wonderful as it gave me time to really look at my surroundings and take in the colour and see the harmonies and contrasts.

Can't wait to revisit you for another course and be totally inspired again, Thanks Cat, Tess xxx

  Caroline

I now know why they are 'beating a path to your door'!!

4 years I've spent learning how to paint.

Six sessions at JoeDaisy and I learnt more in one day than 4 years!!

Vital information from you - NO-ONE has ever given me - composition, tonal values, focal points, concepts, mood boards - everything. AND YOUR TOP TIPS AND FORMULA - well mind blowing!!!

TOTALLY FANTASTIC. Wish I'd found you 4 years ago and not wasted my time with 'fiddly, pointless sessions'!!!!! Carrie

Dear Cat

Thanks for creating the atmosphere, the talent and inspiration to provide a terric course last week end.

The fact that the relationship amongst the artists group was so warm and positive is largely due to the buzz you created - the music, the
jokes and the laughter. Thank you so much for your patience and hard work, as we worked to be creative and productive.

Thanks also to Robin for the back-up he provided,  which was an essential ingredient in creating a successful experience. Warm  regards, David Cheeseman

Caroline

"This is the best painting course. I'm a serial course taker and NEVER have I had so much quality and revealing teaching.

Not just that but the whole package - the guest house, the studio, the village, the food, the welcome, the individual personal space, the feeling of being valued and not another number - I just didn't want to leave.

I am SERIOUSLY thinking of moving nearer to you, my whole life feels as if it has changed by a chance encounter of the web site and then Caroline and her team. Phew, just amazing and life changing???" (wanted name witheld).

  Hi Cat,

Just wanted to thank you so much for the 2 day painting course. I really enjoyed it and learn't lots even if it didn't show. You are such a good teacher in a very inspirational way.

So huge thank you and hope I will be able to do another course with you. Happy Painting. lots of love Tess x

Dear Cat

I can't thank you enough for the wonderful and truly inspiring week I spent with you at JoeDaisy.

Your inspiring guidance and patience truly brought out 'the artist within' me and will now enable me to move on and focus on my strengths. In addition, the generous atmosphere both in the studio and B&B made everything so comfortable that I was able to paint and paint. Fantastic!!

I do hope that I will be able to return for another week next summer. With love and thanks x Judy

Hi Caroline

"I just wanted to email to thank you again for a fantastic three days last weekend.

You have a great teaching style – very positive and supportive – and I really had the feeling of being able to tap into your own education, training, experience and talents, and I think it’s quite rare for creative people to be so generous in sharing at this level.

My aim for the weekend was to discover and release my own personal style, and I feel strongly I was able to do this. I’m brimming with enthusiasm to continue my exploration of woodland through painting, with more single-mindedness, confidence and new skills. Best wishes" Mr Jez

Hi Cat

wow what a week we had. Perfect weather, perfect company and so much painting, talking, music and laughter.  I forgot the whole of the outside world existed.

You have such an original set up at Joe Daisy that comes not just from the excellent teaching but from your attitude to people and life.

The character and peace of the location adds to it all but it's what you give of yourself that makes it so unique. A massive thank you. Chris

Caroline. I just wanted to write you an email to say thank you so much for the course the other weekend. You taught me so much in terms of skills which I am very excited to be using but also to chill out a bit about my painting. I think I had started to take everything too seriously from the wrong perspective and I feel much lighter and much more excited about painting then I have in about a year! So it was a fantastic experience and thank you very very much. Georgina

Caroline "You really are an excellent teacher...allowing each member in the group to develop individual style,  sharing your time equally between all of us ( no favourites, very important!) In fact, you were really like some kind of super painting angel flitting between us all  offering advice and making suggestions, lifting flagging spirits as we all wrestled with this desire to create ! Thank you so much !" Rose -

Please convey my thanks to Cat a terrific workshop over the Weekend. I appreciate very much, that despite the fact she was feeling rather unwell, she conducted the course with energy and enthusiasm.

I learnt a lot and  very much enjoyed the practical painting exercises.
An excellent course --much better than others I have been on.

Recommend--'The Glasgow Boys' exhibition at the RA ,which I went to today (if you have not seen it).

Best Wishes. Brian Kelly. (Cat had lost her voice over the weekend!!)

Dear Cat,

I just wanted to say thank you for a really wonderful course. It was  so inspiring, and such a wonderful break away from a bit of a  stressful time here. It was so great being with Richard and Julia too,  and the bed and breakfast was lovely.

Thank you Cat for being such a great teacher. You are so positive and  kind I felt my confidence growing by the minute, and I LOVED painting. You taught us so much. I wish I lived nearer, and I really hope that I  get the chance to go on another course one day.

Best wishes for your own painting - you deserve to do well as you are so generous and encouraging to others - and you really know what you are doing.

I really hope we meet again. Thanks to Robin for the lifts, Have a great time at  the Take That concert!
Anne

Hi Caroline,

I just need to drop you a line once, to thank you for yet another fabulous weekend, for me and my Mum. I am a “returner”  as is my Mum, for the fourth time, every time we learn something so new and vital that we can’t fail but improve our painting technique and enjoyment of art.

Abstract, wow what an emotional  painting technique to master. That’s just it, it is all about the artist and how the artist feels. Then just let the paints do the rest. Release your inner self to canvas. What a fantastic release from the day to day stresses and concerns.

Your encouragement and positive spin on every little crisis I encountered was so inspirational. I can’t wait for my Spanish painting holiday in the spring to Marbella. The trips out you have planned sound fantastic, I will also be a “returner” for your Spanish experience, that’s how much I enjoy your style of tuition.

Your attention to detail whilst travelling abroad has given me the confidence to include my mother,  aged 80 (sorry Mum for letting them in on your secret) in my next trip to Spain. Until the Spring, once again thank you. Kind regards Margaret Marks Jan 2011

Hullo Cat and very big thank you for your most excellent  tuition over the weekend.

It didn’t feel like that at times given the good humour, smiles, laughter and so on which is something I have rarely experienced within such a professional course.  THANKS a MILLION!  Our little group certainly supported each other throughout the weekend.
The notes, I shall read this week and perhaps comeback on one or two points  (at least) that I have picked up already.
I came because:
a. I wanted a ‘soaking’.  in the use of acrylics. A 2 hours a time session is really too short and your course really immersed me. At the evening meals, Jeannie and I talked ‘shop’ nonstop.
b. I have never painted “large” and therefore needed to sort out scale and proportion as well as getting down colour in the hues planned. Mixing up such large quantities in one go had never happened to me before.
c. The need to speed up painting. Usually it is one or two medium size canvasses a term for me.
Objective achieved.

Thanks again. Great stuff.   Arthur

Dear Cat
First of all thank you again for a brilliant course - I do not remember learning so much about any topic where I had zero aptitude, experience or expertise at the outset. best wishes Professor John Wilson

"Just wanted to say what a fantastic time we had last weekend painting with acrylics under Colin’s relaxed and encouraging guidance. I had no idea that the studio was in such a pretty location….Your web-site doesn’t say that it’s a no-through road and not plagued by cars ….likewise the B&Bs (we stayed at Neal’s Farm which was also fantastically tranquil)". Jenny   "Well, I just tried another provider and it just reafirms my belief - JoeDaisy is the best. This other tutor (on a different course) rubbed my drawing out - put in his own and then repainted it - after I had painted it!! What was that all about? I thought it should be about me and not him!! So yes, you are the best
- with YOU it is about US and you never touch our paintings!! Thanks reaffirmation made - I'll be back next year!
Valerie.

Caroline, having just completed a 3 day 'improvers' course, I cannot thank you enough for having the patience and resilience to find (more like, excavate...) the frustrated artist in me. On day one, I was ready to give up and go home, as I just could not deal with abstract concepts. However, you guided me through the fear/pain barrier and I now feel bolder, braver and ready to tackle my future subjects with renewed energy, enthusiasm, and loads more colour!

To any would be artist I say - you will never know unless you give it a try.... Thank you Caroline, I'll be back!! H

(Thank goodness this lovely lady perservered because just look what she created - sensational!! ) Caroline

Hi Cat
Thank you for photos and notes - memories of a really happy week. Yes, your excellent teaching has had the desired affect and kick-started me into painting once more. Hopefully I will be able to join you again sometime; maybe in Spain even!

You did well in packing the paintings as they all arrived home in good condition - with no paint on the car!! Thank you for your perseverance.
I shall pass everything on to Maureen.
Best Wishes Mary x

Dear Caroline, Thank you so much for yesterday’s class.  I found it invaluable from start to finish and have learnt an awful lot in a short space of time.

Prior to meeting you I wasn’t too confident in my ability.  However, following your advice and kind words I now have a lot more confidence and  knowledge to keep on painting. I have also found the grid to help with the Golden Mean on my camera so hopefully I can produce lots of excellent (rather than lucky!!) material to work from in the future.

I will keep working hard practicing these new techniques and am already looking forward to booking another day with you later this year.

Thanks again, you are a very inspiring lady. Kind Regards, Tony Collins

Dear Cat,

Just writing to say how much I enjoyed the recent weekend course,
Introduction to Oil Painting (30/31 July).  Your demonstrations were really useful and I certainly learned a lot.  I liked they way you were always available but gave us time to experiment on our own.  Thanks for all your advice and encouragement and for creating a really good working atmosphere.

All good wishes,
Sheila Simpson

"Hallo Caroline and Colin

Just to say how much I enjoyed and was inspired by the course.  You have really given me the courage to lose my  inhibitions about painting and paint and really try to create  in my own style.  Thank you so much.

I will definitely be back on another course later in the year.  I am sitting in my office right now wishing I was in the studio! " Sarah -

Cat. I have so enjoyed the weekend at Joedaisy.  Under your tutelage, have learned much about acrylics and brushwork as well as re-focusing on composition.  I am all fired up and ready to start painting again.  The company was great and what worked especially well was that despite the wide range of interests that we had, and our various stages of creative development and skill, we all succeeded.

Brilliant! Send my regards to Sue and Barbara. Laura

"Hi Caroline

Thank you so so much for a wonderful weekend. I thoroughly enjoyed it and it has really encouraged me to pick up my brushes again. Your work and words were an inspiration.

Thanks so much and hopefully see you again.

Take care"
Lucy

"Hi Cat
Just to say thanks for a fantastic course. Wonderfully relaxing setting, great tuition and real encouragement. It felt like a complete indulgence to spend 3 days in the studio - real food for the soul! I'd definitely recommend Joe Daisy and will be back soon. Thanks again for all your help!"

Amanda

Chris's sensational painting.

Dear Caroline,

Thank you so much for a truly memorable week end, you some how managed to get me to produce the most exciting , largest (by far!), most demanding painting of my life. You challenged, supported, advised in all the right ways and seemed to instinctively know how to get the best from me, quite amazing.

The reaction when I got home was great, as I asked them how it made them feel and what the picture said to them, I had roses, souls, life's journey - phew !!! not bad for a few pebbles on a beach.

So, thank you, you are an inspiring person and
great fun, I had a fantastic time and the company was terrific. I think you will have a lovely time in Spain.

Take care
Chris x Jan 2011

Dear Cat,
Thank you for the notes and may I also say a sincere thank you for a lovely experience at your studio. Although my painting was the most hopeless in the the class it was for me nevertheless a fulfilling, relaxing and enjoyable two days. It was also a real privilege to watch you work and create amazing work in front of our very eyes. I wish that I could pop in every week for a lesson. You were so patient and have a lovely, cheerful enthusiasm. One day I hope to return, if you could stand it: ha ha.

Diolch eto:Thanks once again.Naomi Hitchings

Caroline. "i just think of you standing there infront of me the day you painted the palm tree when you nearly knocked me over ,you have such powerful energy

.i shall never forgrt that day ,.the day you inspired me to paint ,really paint .

i thank you for that ,big hug from me" Carolyn

'This is Brilliant. I don't know how you do it.

Such energy, such enthusiam, such exceptional teaching & great products.

As I think I told you - I've spent 3 years at art school and never learnt any of what I learnt with you. I think I said during the weekend 'this is brilliant' at least 321 times! ' Nancy - Feb 2009

"We just wanted to thank you so much for the weekend, we arrived home safely last night and although exhausted agreed we had both had a fantastic time. Our art work has been much admired by the family and they cannot believe that I (Tracey) managed to paint a picture that looked OK. Vikki's cheetah was the biggest success.

Thanks to Colin, who has the patience of a saint and who bought out the best in both of us, and thanks also to Robin for supplying us with much needed sustenance.   Hope to see you again for the get creative weekend soon Kind regards" Tracey and Vikki Thorne

Cat - "just wanted to say thank you for the brilliant course at the weekend and what a nice group.  I really enjoyed it and felt that I was able to build on what I had learned in the previous course. It has given me a lot more confidence to carry on painting at home. I forgot to take my camera with me so I would love a copy of the picture you took. Would you mind e-mailing it to me?

Robin - thanks again for the lunches and for picking me up and taking me back to the station which was a great help. Hope to see you again soon. Best Wishes"
Marie

"Hi Caroline and Kat,

Just wanted to say a massive thank you for such a rewarding three days on the portrait course. The boys and I had our eyes opened to what we could achieve when painting portraits and we now have 14 canvases to prove that we can actually do it. The course was simply brilliant with just the right balance of teaching and hands-on artistry, giving us the confidence to experiment with different styles whilst still building from the basics that deliver a recognisable portrait.  We each achieved far more than we thought possible before coming on the course, and not only that, we had fun doing it.  Well done for making a difficult subject seem easy!  We look forward to seeing you again soon! All the best", Richard, (Jamie and Daniel) Feb 2010

"Dear Cat

It's Monday morning and I'm back to reality and the Monday chores and wishing SO much that I was still in the studio with you! Ross and I had the most brilliant time and feel we learned so much from you in such a very short time. You explained everything clearly and patiently and made it all such fun.

We have decided we will make this an annual Mother/Daughter treat and so look forward over time to enjoying all the other courses you offer. Thank you very very much - you were a fantastic teacher and we will both be singing the praises of Joe Daisy - the location - the materials - the inspiration. All good wishes" Pam Pheby

ATTN:  CAT

"Caroline and I would just like to thank you for a great weekend Cat, we had the most amazing time, totally different to what we usually do!  We have now got the bug!  We are going to book on another course for next year but have to wait and see when Caroline’s holidays are as she has school on Saturdays.

See you next year! Regards"

Sarah and Caroline

" Wow!!!, what a great time I had.

Cat really stretched me into a new place in my head and opened doors I didn't even know existed, for me; she was great.

I came away with a new sense of purpose and a whole new dimension to my painting. The tuition was encouraging and direct without being intimidating or opinionated and the high quality of materials made the whole process a real pleasure. I'm converted and will be doing a lot more Acrylic work in the future, that is, once I have mortgaged my home to pay for the paint and the new brushes. The painting I did of the Tulips is already hanging on my little girl Amy's' bedroom wall, she loves it and the other two paintings are now displayed in my little "studio".

The group was just the right size and the eclectic mix of personalities was really great; I have made some friends in the process. Thanks again for a relaxed but highly rewarding experience. Regards" Ed Hayes

PS. Thanks to Robin for the lunches; the B&B, Neils Farm was very, very good and a charming and very hospitable lady.

"Thank you Colin for a enjoyable and inspiring course. My daughters told me that the landscape I did on the weekend course was the best painting I had ever done!

I learnt so much and you explained the Golden Section rule about composition so clearly. I had never understood what it meant before! Needless to say, all the studio facilities were excellent and I really appreciated that we could have tea or coffee at any time!

I hope to return in the not too distant future. Thank you so much for your excellent teaching combined with loads of patience and good humour. Best wishes" Eleanor March 2010

"Caroline. I know it was a few weeks ago but I wanted to thank you for a brilliant creative weekend.

I learnt more in 2 days than I have done in years.

I knew how I wanted to paint but didnt know  the techniques. You have inspired me so much and it was a lovely atmosphere and interesting people to share it with.I will be back for another weekend and a spanish trip. You are so patient and encouraging when teaching.I went home inspired yet rested.

Thanks" - Dot (Beers)

"Caroline is the most enthusiastic and earnest painter that I know and she is excellent at passing on her knowledge and enthusiasm" Viv

Caroline & Colin,

A quick big thank you for a fantastic weekend. I arrived back home so relaxed and happy and proud of myself!!
You have created a great atmosphere up there and it’s incredibly inspiring.
My giant cucumbers, that actually turned out pretty much like cactuses in the end, are happily hanging on the guest room wall looking like they’ve been painted by somebody who knows what they are doing!
Can’t wait to come back for more.

Hope to see you soon!
Ancki

Dear Caroline et all at Joe Daisy

"Thank you thank you thank you for a great weekend, I thought I was stuck in copy and follow mode from boring painting books which fill the shelves of Waterstones.

Getting out of the bookshop and into your studio is the best choice I ever made. I feel you have opened a whole new world of possibility for me and my painting. More More More I will be back"

Stephen

PS Ive been telling everyone how great it is…expect more bookings !

'Thank you so so much for such a wonderful painting experience.

When I look at the photograph I can't believe I painted it - but I did , every brush stroke is mine.

Caroline you are such a generous, inspiring teacher, I can't wait to return to JoeDaisy. Alex thank you for taking such good care of us , for the delicious lunches and for going the extra miles and delivering me all the way to Heathrow, a kindness I did not expect but very much appreciated.

I know of no other organisation that takes such good care of it's clients! Geraldine

'It's brilliant - I totally understand now I've learnt about the structure of the face.

Cat was fantastic in her tuition. I was completely daunted before by the thought of a portrait but now I'm confident and very excited!' Caroline Feb 2010

Alison and I met up for lunch today and are still on a high after our weekend with you :o) I am hoping to return to celebrate my 40th birthday at Joe Daisy with a few of my friends next year

Thankyou so much for loosening us all up and giving us the confidence to have a go.  Your enthusiasm and gentle patience was all the inspiration we needed!  Helen

Hi Cat,
Thank you so much for such a brilliant two days and also making my mother welcome too. I really enjoyed the experience, also painting alongside such a lovely group of ladies. I can't wait to come back in July, this has been truly inspirational for me and am now going to buy the equipment I need to start painting at home. Thanks once again. Diane

Just wanted to say WOW what a brilliant weekend I had with you and the others last weekend! I am still on a high and my brain is working overtime - creatively for a change:) Thank-you thank-you thank-you for your generous support and positive comments, although I am sure there were times when you thought - holy what is that! I hope to see you very soon.
LOL Philippa

"Thank you again for a really great week-end. I really enjoyed and got a lot out of your teaching and guidance.

Your style and the quietly focussed atmosphere of the studio are just perfect for me". Bruno

Just wanted to thank you both for a fabulous weekend. I am feeling very depressed this morning as the reality of work has hit and all I want to do is paint. You are very clever Caroline, and your teaching is brilliant! The whole atmosphere of the studio was lovely and Alex's hospitality was appreciated. The paintings from Saturday have already been put up in my two daughters' bedrooms, but I think 'Whitby' will be a 'work in progress' for a long time. Hope to get back as soon as possible probably on the abstract weekend. Jane

Caroline  " I just want to thank you for the weekend. It was so invigorating, and surprisingly, great fun.
I feel I have learnt a lot--- and that's down to you. Thanks"
Howard.
"Thanks again for a most productive weekend, wish I lived nearer to JoeDaisy, you would have so much trouble getting me out of your studio. Again you have been so generous in sharing you expertise, encouraging  hungry students to find 'our own voice' and have the confidence to paint in our own style rather than producing Caroline Clones! Warning! I will be back!" Geraldine   "Caroline really is different. I've been on many courses and they 'part teach you' almost as if they want your money to learn more. Caroline is different, she teaches you everything you REALLY need to know, so you go away confident and pretty excited. Becuase it is so good, you want to come back anyway. This really is pretty exciting and different teaching - you get your money's worth and 100% more. and I never write thank yous!" Brenda

'Probably the best painting course - Liz .

"I arrived at the studio totally clueless and I've come away with so much knowledge. In just 2 days, its quite unbelievable but I am very keen to learn more. I now look at paintings in a totally different way and I have joined the arts club at work" Grace

I would like to thank you very much for a most fantastic week end. I really enjoyed the wk end & learnt so much ! Your approach is so good  . The time passed so quickly & although we were all working so intensively for the two days, I felt exhilarated , very uplifted & invigorated!. Aruna

I had to drop you a note to say how much I enjoyed the beginners weekend – Thank you again for your patience, clarity of instruction and above all, passion for your art – you are a true inspiration. Lynne

Just a few lines to say how much I enjoyed the course. It definately gave me the confidence to continue my journey of discovery
with my painting, I'm still buzzing with enthusiasm and ideas. Thank you so very much. Lesley

This is above EXCELLENT. This was the BEST two days I've ever spent painting. I painted in acrylics, oils and mixed media. Learnt everything I thought a degree course would cover - in JUST two days. Couldn't believe it. STUNNING. Caroline is the best tutor I've come across, immensely talented but able to COMPLETELY assess our needs and correct our painting. BREATHTAKING - HONESTLY it's such a revelation to find something like this. I think she needs a medal or tea with the Queen OR SOMETHING! Thank you SO much! Sue

"You really are an exceptionally gifted teacher, with a refreshing outlook on life" Gordon

"Thank you so much for the week-end, I can't remember when I enjoyed something so much. You are a great teacher and I feel that I have learnt so much": Marriane

Caroline. I just want to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you for a  wonderful week. What a journey, both artisitically and personally! You were so good at nurturing us in an un-judgemental way. Brilliant and inspiring, hospitable and generous – I can’t stop singing your praises. Barbara

wanted to write to thank you very sincerely for such a fun weekend.  We left behind our busy busy lives, husbands, children and the M4 and had such a relaxing weekend in Mapledurham and enjoyed every minute of it.

You had thought of lots of little extras to make the weekend so relaxing -  all my favourites - chocolate, wine and sweets but even more importantly a wonderful environment with great teaching and lots of laughs.  It was fabulous having you as our tutor and we all would love to come and visit you again one day.

Thanks Caroline - you're a star
.

I just wanted to write a quick email to thank you, and Colin also,  for a really lovely and inspiring  two days.  I was feeling in a bit of a sad slump about my art and I cant believe how lovely arcrylics are to use!  I felt very lucky to experience the two days in such a lovely group with such an inspiring tutor!  I even loved doing the charcoal!
Thank you again Caroline it was  really a special treat to come on your course and meet you all, and I really enjoyed it.

with warm wishes and thanks Vicki

Thanks so much for a terrific weekend.  It was a great bunch of folks and we really enjoyed ourselves, your fantastic tuition and coordination.  Special thanks to Alex of course.  He is great.

Take care and good luck with the Spain plans -- they are huge!

"The course was outstandingly good. Intensive, yet somehow relaxed and inspirational. Course content just flowed from one subject to another with ease &, exceptional cleverness, so I was learning without being lectured! I'm sort of in shock as to what I acheived and after three days I'm still marvelling at how much I learnt in a casual but exceptional way. Quite incredible!" Bob   "Caroline was brilliant - she has a unique ability to inspire and encourage yet pointed out my shortcomings in a refreshingly direct yet unintimidating way. I learnt a huge amount. There was a great atmosphere in the studio - we were really made to feel at home and relax. Fantastic tutor, great work space, terrific atmosphere. What more could anyone ask for?" Ed   This is to say thank you once again for the fantastic experience of the last two days. The course was exactly what I needed.  I am so energised,  inspired, excited and passionate again about my painting and you have helped me achieve all of that alongside giving me many new technical skills.  Above all I feel I have come away with a new way of seeing - AND HOW FANTASTIC IS THAT - in just two days. I hope I will be back very soon for some more of the magic that seems to  pervade your studio.  Thanks to Alex too for making us feel so welcome and 'at home'. Take care and much love -     Maggie Somerset

It was  a great weekend. I really enjoyed it  and liked the work you helped me produce. As I said at the weekend you delivered exactly what it said on the 'tin'.

Give my regards to Alex

Big hug to you both

Noor

Thank so much for a fantastic couple of days at Mapledurham.

Your claim to bring out the artist in the individual student is totally true.  You have a great gift to encourage and inform with such a light touch the student barely knows it is happening.

I have never before come away from a painting course with so many canvasses of finished or near finished work.  Mind blowing.  I feel really invigorated about my work. Chris

Thanks for sending the photos through so swiftly - they were great, also those on your web page.

Thank you for an excellent weekend, patiently encouraging and sharing your expertise and creative insight, not to mention providing for all our needs. I was overwhelmed by your generosity.

Special thanks to Alex also who did such a great job of looking after us...especially in that heat.
Norma

"I was feeling excited but scared when I arrived, in fact I sat in the car for ten minutes! As soon as you walk into the Studio you feel OK. Caroline is there with a big smile and welcome - then you get a cup of tea or coffee or water (even wine!) and meet everyone else - it was great. Loved it, can't recommend it enough. Thanks to Alex as well for the help and endless cups of tea!" Joan   "I have to say - NOBODY does it better! Great environment, excellent materials, I was like a kid in a candy shop - so relaxed but just right for learning and Caroline is the BEST! She gave her all and her all is JUST PERFECT! Sue   "This was great, professional teaching, professional products and information I have never got from reading millions of 'How To' art books. Thanks!" Rob
Cat is an extremely hardworking and talented tutor and artist.  I can say that with some authority as for my sins and a few bob I was a school inspector.  I had a tiring ( I didn't realise that painting was such bloody hard work  ) worthwhile in  that I my learning ramp would have launched rockets.  I just watched and listened, did what she said without question and it worked for me.  I ran through a gamut of emotions from great satisfaction when things worked, frustration when my skills would not work for me ( I hate lavender )  However my surprise after the long journey home was that Marie recognised my painting of Port Isaac Cornwall immediately.  Tell Cat not to fret about the photo and to put it in the memory bank of a job well done.
Satisfied customer from Manchester. Eugene

Hi Cat

sorry very remiss of me not to thank you for a great course Your  instruction, advice and encouragement was fantastic You were inspirational and your obvious passion and love of painting was infectious.

My painting "A week end in August 2009 at JoeDaisy studio with Cat" now hangs on the wall in my creative room ! I now know its a starting point for my adventure into expressing myself on canvas and that you made it happen . Yes l know I  will never produce a masterpiece but you know what l no longer need to.
Thanks a million Roger

'SO loved the week-end.

After a nights sleep I'm brimming with enthusiasm and good intentions.

You were wonderful; you provided us with an instinctive balance of constructive support, encouragement and space to get on uninterrupted.

Thank you. It's not difficult to see why people return to you again and again' - Max -

Thanks for the pictures Caroline.
I had a great weekend and learnt so much from you.  You’re an inspiration!   Hope to return again.  All the best Kate

I wanted to get in touch because I feel on Sunday I was too dazed by the amount you had taught me and the unbelievable sense of achievement. I look now at my efforts, particularly the acrylic, and still can't believe they were made by me.

The rational part of myself shut down my creativitity at 17 and I really feared I'd lost it forever. You've given it back to me and there are no words to say how much that means to me. Sam -

To Cat. ´I just wanted to say thanks for a great course the other week. I 'm amazed I learned so much in just two days which must be a credit to your teaching. It was a great bunch of people and the atmosphere was generous and supportive throughout. I was thrilled with my final painting and now I have an easel for Christmas and my cosmotop brush on the way I can't wait to carry on.

I'd have sent feedback sooner but been busy emailing pictures of my canvas and recommending your course to everyone I know!; thanks again. Kind regards´
Louise

The Best Course I've been on' Marie June 2008

Thank you so much for the photos and for a fantastic course. Also thanks for your kindness and patience when I was feeling a bit unsure of myself! I learnt so much and am inspired to carry on. I am back in work today but all I wanted to do was stay home and paint. You really helped me to believe that I can be an artist which is something I have wanted to do for longer than I care to remember! I am going to set up a studio in the spare room and will definitely be buying artists quality paint as it was a joy to use.
Can you also say thank you to Alex for me. He was so kind and helpful and I really appreciate the lifts to and from the station and the farm.

Again, very many thanks for a brilliant couple of days.

I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and will certainly recommend you to my other painting friends. Maggie

Thanks Caroline

I really, really had a great time. I will certainly be back though will get some practice in first. Perhaps later in the year - and I am tempted by Spain too!

I went for a long walk today and realised that what i want to put on canvas is what I feel - not what I see - so I'm going to use that as my 'concept' does that sound ok?

Take care - you are a brilliant teacher. jo

'Caroline is so talented she can make a painting out of a washing up bowl, I was astounded at her capability
to paint anything in any style. Bill
This is the best time I’ve ever had and I’ve been on many courses. Thanks for, fun, learning and achievement, the best!” Faith said   'In one leap, with your tuition I came from an amateur to a professional (well I like to think so!) Thanks Caroline, never thought I'd be able to do what I did. Just worried that without you being there I won't be able to do it again' Colin
!This weekend was different, we were thoroughly spoilt with the best of everything. I've never been on such a good course. Feel as if I've crammed whole degree in one weekend! Thanks Caroline. I will be back!! Brian   'We haven't had to think of a thing. Great organisation, huge generosity, enormous friendliness and Caroline I have to tell you this now. YOU ARE FANTASTIC! Nikki   I just wanted to drop you a note to say how much I enjoyed the painting course last weekend with Colin.
He is a great teacher, and it was with a really nice group of people - both of which made the whole experience very enjoyable
. Sarah

Just thought we would drop you a line to let you know how much we enjoyed our weekend of education and creation. We had a look on your website this morning and were both very proud to see our efforts on your student’s page. Family and friends are logging on right now to see what a weekend in your tender care can do for a budding artist. We will consolidate all that we have learnt and then return for more tuition. You have given us both the confidence to go on and hopefully create paintings we could never have imagined were possible for us to attempt. What a perfect way for a mother and daughter to spend a weekend Margaret and Jean
