Abstract and contemporary paintings are in demand! It's an expressive way to paint and you will be amazed at what you achieve!
But do not be frightened!. Caroline takes you through everything: Composition, focal points, tonal values, colour, texture etc.
Even if you are a starter, you will create stunning paintings! Abstract and contemporary painting is often a great way to get started. It brings out the artist in you! Caroline will show you how to get inspiration from nature, shapes etc.
Honestly these are really enjoyable weekends -and very very exciting!
You also paint on a hand made canvas. Made by us - so a superior canvas - up to size 40" - 100cm. You can chose your size.

Arrive 9.45-10.0am Refreshments in the upstairs lounge. Meet your fellow artists.
Introduction to JoeDaisy Studio and your Professional Artist.
10.30am The basis of abstract form. Composition of 'contemporary/abstract/decorative art'. Painting techniques. Texture techniques, including collage. We initially practise on commercial canvases, exploring preparation of canvas, composition, form, focal points, tonal values, colour, etc.
12.30am Buffet Lunch in the Upstairs Gallery (Sometimes a barbecue in the summer) We cater for vegetarians and any special dietary requirements. During the day, there is a coffee machine, tea, herbal drinks, soft drinks, bottled water and wine available - along with nibbles and you are encouraged to make the Studio 'your home' for the weekend i.e take rests whenever you want to, walk around, look at the art books, look at the paintings and prints in the Gallery, sit and chat etc. We want you to feel as if you are at home but with the added bonus of every top quality Professional art material and facility you could desire!
2.0pm We go on location to Mapledurham and learn how to make 'landscape' into an abstract/contemporary form.We make some working drawings in pastel or charcoal. (If weather is inclement we will do this in the Studio)
4.0pm Discussion about tomorrows 'big' painting on a hand made canvas.
5.0pm Day Ends
